St Peter’s CE Infant School and Nursery

 Week beginning 1^st February 2010

This week we had a visit from Mr Nick Hudson, Wigan’s Director for Children and Young People’s Services.  Since he has started in the job he has been trying to visit all school in Wigan .  We gave him a tour of the school and he had lunch with the children.  He said he really enjoyed his visit.

Pantomime:

The pantomime was a huge success again this year.  The children really enjoyed it and they have been taking part in activities linked to the Aladdin story.

Save the Children, Disaster Fund:

The non-uniform day we held last week raised over £171.  A big thank you for all your donations.

Reception Display:

A letter for reception parents went out yesterday inviting you to come into school and look at the art display with your child.  As we have nearly 60 children in Reception we have arrange appointment times at the beginning and end of the day, please see Miss McGrath to book a slot. 

The times are Monday 3.00pm and 3.15 pm and Friday 8.45pm and 9.00pm.  For all the time slots please come in school through the main office, if you have the 9.00am slot please ensure your child goes into school as normal so they get their morning mark.

Westleigh Extended School:

Mrs Fletcher is working with Westleigh Extended School ’s Team to plan the Activefest timetable.  Possible trips are Camelot and Gulliver’s World.

Shrove Tuesday (Pancake Day):

The school kitchen are offering a special meal on Pancake day, 11^th February, letter and more information will be given out next week.

Year 1 Performance:

We have been lucky to have been chosen to take part in a performing arts project.  Experts in Drama and Dance will come into school and work with the children.  The children will then have the opportunity to perform with other school in the area at Lowton Civic Hall.  The performance will be on either 16^th or 17^th March, as soon as the date and time has been confirmed we will inform you.

FUTURE DIARY DATES:

Year 2 SAT Meeting:

We have arranged two meetings for Year 2 parents to talk about Year 2 SAT’s, what they are and what it will mean for your children.  They will be held on Tuesday 23^rd February at 2.00pm and 5.00pm we plan for them to last about an hour.

Half Term:

The school will close on Friday 12^th February and reopen on Monday 22^nd February.

Parents evening:

Tuesday 9^th March 3.30pm – 5.30pm

Wednesday 10^th March 5.00pm – 7.30pm

Easter Bingo

The Friend’s of St Peter’s Infant School are holding an Easter Bingo on 18^th March at 6.00pm.  As it’s so close to Easter the prizes will be Easter eggs.  If you are able to donate an Easter egg please send it into school, thanks.  The money raised will go towards the activities planned for the end of year celebrations.
