St Peter’s CE Infant School and Nursery

            Week beginning 15^TH January 2010

We hope you all had a good Christmas and New Year and the Children especially enjoyed the snow we had last week.  We’ve heard excited stories of building snowmen and throwing snowballs.

We would like to thank you for your patience last week; we had help clearing the snow from the car park but it wasn’t easy.  It looks like the snow should have thawed by Monday.  If this is the case children will be coming into school through the back gate again and leaving their normal way. 

Pantomime:

We had booked Aladdin for last week but unfortunately as the children were off we had to cancel it.  We are lucky because they have agreed to come in later in January so the children don’t lose out.  This will be on Monday 25^th and the children will be completing different activities linked to the theme.

Hearing dogs for the deaf:

The staff donated money instead of giving out Christmas Cards this year; and that with the money the children brought in for the Father Christmas competition we raised £40.10.  Thank you to everyone that contributed.

Milk and Toast letters:

Milk and toast reminders went out yesterday.  If you have not paid yet please send the money into school, thanks.

Sparkle box:

All Wigan schools have been asked by Wigan LA not to use the Sparkle Box website as the owner is under investigation by the police.  This sight is now blocked on all school computers. 

Credit Union School Bank:

We are planning to open a school bank and we are looking for parent volunteers who can help as cashiers on Tuesdays 8.30 till 9.30 our children save.

Helping and Working in Schools:

The course Mrs Fletcher has arranged for parents is now full.  We have had a very positive response, thank you to all who have applied.

Weather:

We are expecting to be back outside for playtimes next week.  Can you please ensure that children come in warm coat, hats and gloves.

FUTURE DIARY DATES:

Year 2 SAT Meeting:

We have arranged two meetings for Year 2 parents to talk about Year 2 SAT’s, what they are and what it will mean for your children.  They will be  held on Tuesday 23^rd February at 2.00pm and 5.00pm we plan for them to last about an hour.

Half Term:

The school will close on Friday 12^th February and reopen on Monday 22^nd February.

Parents evening:

Tuesday 9^th March 3.30pm – 5.30pm

Wednesday 10^th March 5.00pm – 7.30pm
